NextGen app for UofT
This is a sequel project of MentorMe for University of Toronto, under a different User Interface course by Professor Velian Pandeliev. NextGen is an extension to a career networking app, where students can stay abreast of the university’s job postings, career development articles, networking events and peer-to-peer engagements, all in the palm of a hand.
Collaborator
University of Toronto students for user interviews.
This project was also inspired by a similar non-disclosure project I am currently involved in with Bank of Singapore, to engage the clients’ children.
Timeline
Mar 2020 – Apr 2020
Role
Individual effort in end-to-end design process: user research, benchmarking, ideating, prototyping
Tools
Photoshop, Figma, Miro
Overview
I consolidated my research and design process into the below pitch deck, covering user insights, my to-be and as-is journeys, as well as my recommended concept prototype.
I revisited some big ideas that I had collected from my MentorMe project to find some inspirations. In addition, I also did some benchmarking research on native social applications more corporates are innovating on as part of their client outreach efforts.
Conclusion
While conducting my UX propositions, I also recognised the importance of addressing the business needs, requirements and feasibility to my client. To make my value proposition more convincing, I also came up with a high-level execution plan and business requirements to provide clarity on how my idea may come into fruition.
EXTRAS
I also topped it off with a suggested email newsletter design for the announcement of the NextGen app for UofT students.
