Mini innovation projects
As a former business and techno-entrepreneurship student, I was exposed to innovation project opportunities where I worked closely with actual industry stakeholders through internships, hackathons, case competitions and school coursework.
I do enjoy to problem-solving and creative design aspect of each innovation projects. It was also through these mini opportunities that made me more confident in wanting to pursue UX for the long term.

Data analytics Sandbox
In Bank of Singapore, I was involved in the early discovery phase of user research to develop use cases and gather user stories for the data team. This is part of the bank’s digital transformation efforts to enhance data governance and provide multiple departments with a single source of truth to facilitate their data use cases in a seamless and unified manner.
Some key work I have done singlehandedly are such as preparing, conducting, analyzing and reporting cross-department interviews, and designing infographic and logo concepts with Figma and Illustrator to internally promote the Bank’s Data-as-a-service (DAAS).

I conducted a quick poll with Data Hub team members, where majority voted for option 4.
Fintext for bank of singapore
I was assigned as sole UX designer in this project’s agile team at Bank of Singapore.
FinText was an digital transformation project to help Product Due Diligence (PDD) staffs leverage on machine learning (in particular, Natural Language Processing) and digitalised their key user journey to conduct their due diligence of financial products from primary and secondary markets.
Previously, staffs were manually reading emails sent by Bond Houses and data vendors, and updating records by excel sheets and VBA as their end user computing. This tedious process is mapped in the following existing journey map after conducting quick interviews with 3 PDD staffs.
After gathering insights on PDD and compliance requirements, I set out on crafting a targeted blue print with below wireframes to envision a digitalised all-in-one dashboard that integrates a trained NLP model with API data connectivity to scan and triangulate uploaded financial prospectuses.
The team then translated my above mockup concepts into tangible user stories for IT and Machine Learning developers to work on in subsequent sprint cycles.
Facial recognition for entry sign-in
I was briefly involved in the preliminary user research and design phase of our facial recognition project for Bank of Singapore.
Facial recognition aims to automate registrations for arrival and exits of high-networth clients when they visit our office for an appointment with their relationship managers. With aid of computer vision and AI technology, a camera is installed at the office lobby to detect expecting clients by facial recognition. Clients are automatically registered into the system upon arrival and exits, and the system notifies relevant service personnels with sufficient notice so that they can promptly take the necessary actions to provide a smooth and pleasant experience for clients..
We interviewed service ambassadors and IT personnels to understand existing issues with their current service model to facilitate clients’ visits. We discovered a pertinent need for timely notification and automated notification alerts to relevant service personnels.
I then helped mapped the collected data into as-is and to-be user journeys. Then, I subsequently counter proposed with a targeted service model with accompanied storyboard and screen mockups for the facial recognition system.
cOOKIT
CooKit is a personal business venture started by a group of 3 undergraduates during my NUS Overseas College techno-entrepreneurial program in Israel.
My business partner and I designed and copywrite this landing demo page to feature our story, meal plan selections, and registration of interests page. It is an MVP to our meal-prep catering service that leverages the power of AI to monitor and provide customized dietary recommendations based on the individual’s lifestyle and dietary goals. Our bright earthly colour scheme aims to evoke a sense of environmental mindfulness and healthy living.
My team won a S$10,000 start-up grant for a successful pitch of this idea.
YWLC INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE REVAMP
As a member of YWLC, I did a heuristic evaluation and draft wireframe proposals to revamp its website.
The Young Women’s Leadership Connection (YWLC) is a Singapore association that helps support and empower young female leaders; targeted to both young and experienced professional women in Singapore who are seeking to network and get exclusive career support. The site primarily serves as a community platform to educate, share insights, and conduct networking events tailored to female professionals. Therefore, this site mainly has 3 types of users: (1) YWLC members, (2) YWLC mentors/corporate partners, and lastly (3) interested, non-member female students and professionals from the general public.
My team of 3 first conducted a user research, comprising an Optimal tree testing and card sort study. We found that reorganizing and renaming categories and labels are definitely a priority to improving the site, and that it should be revamped with audience-oriented goals in mind. As the site is not entirely content-heavy, this is more of a matter of reorganising pages into logical groupings to create a more intuitive global navigation at its main menu.
Therefore, our site revamp is focused on its global navigation level. We have renamed some of the titles on the global navigation based on the results from our card sort study. Separately, the relocation of certain standalone content such as Events, FAQs, and Newsletter subscriptions are inspired by common best practices to provide navigation familiarity to users, as suggested by the participants’ sorting them under their ‘general’ or ‘main page’ groupings as well.
Having polished our IA schematic and scenario sketches, we began working on the Mid-Fi prototype on Balsamiq to visualise our suggested improvements. These include incorporating our newly proposed navigation system, revamping the homepage design to be neater and more harmonious with each element, including breadcrumbs for inner pages, standardising all global labels to be clickable, as well as removing header images for each page.
Some of our proposed wireframes are now implemented in the actual YWLC site.
SEARCHTREE
This was a group project for an entrepreneurship course I took at college. I was the sole designer in the team where I first attempted prototyping with proto.io to designed an MVP app.
We discovered the power of word-by-mouth marketing for small businesses from our live interview and surveys of over 30 participants. Inspired by Gumtree and Yellow Pages, we came up with SearchTree – a P2P marketplace that connects people on the grapevine for accessible word-of-mouth referrals of goods and services provided by freelancers or independent businesses.
We validated our MVP with several more business users, and received positive feedback as it helps bridge information gaps of consumers while helping small businesses grow their online presence organically.
This project did not come into fruition simply due to commitment challenges as a full-time student, but it gave me the fundamentals of prototyping a minimally viable product.
VIDEO GAMES: FARM-WARS & HOT-P0T LUCK
My interests in interactive design actually started out with Scratch programming from a Design for Interactivity class I took in college in 2016. I designed 2 graphical simulators that simulates the artificial reality of common human gestures through interactive typography and hand-drawn images. The gameplays are simple and straightforward to reduce discoverability efforts and fit common mental modals of real life object interactions instead.
oRBITUS – A TASTE IN PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
I took up a Product and Brand Management business class in college where we ideated and developed a baby-stroller prototype, Orbitus. The product concept aims to work as a stroller, a detachable baby car-seater and a highchair for dining with babies.
My team brainstormed this idea together and I individually transformed this idea designed and hand draw this blue print by pencil and ink.
